Studio/piercer review checklist:
If they are APP (Association of Professional Piercers) members, then it's a good shop. Period.
Ask to see their autoclave's spore test. This will show you that their autoclave is up to standards and working correctly. If they don't have an up to date test... leave.
It's a HUGE plus if they use internally threaded jewelry. This means they care more about their customers safety and use top grade materials.
The shop should be very clean. Obviously.
Make sure that YOU see all the jewelry sterilized before you are pierced. This should include jewelry in bags OR a sterilization strip on the tray with the jewelry. Most of the time the strips turn brown after sterilization. They should have no problem showing these to you, or even offering it up beforehand.
