Putting in & taking out the bead in your captive ring

In this example, we'll use ring opening pliers to put/take out the bead in our captive ring. We highly recommend ring opening pliers to anyone that regularly wears captive bead rings. Click here for more information on those.

First get your ring opening pliers out and your captive Place the captive in a slot that is large enough to hold your captive comfortably and gives you enough room to grab the bead with your finger.

Grab the ball with your finger, and while holding it, *slightly* press the opening pliers, which will open the cbr. Keep gently pressing them until the ball is loose enough for you to remove.

Place the open ring in a comfortable slot on the pliers with the open area at the top. Angle the bead where you have the hole in place on one side of the ring. Gently squeeze your pliers enough to slightly open the ring where you can lay the hole on the other side of the bead into place. Release the pliers and your bead should securely be in place.

The goal is to not scratch or warp your jewelry. Take time and be careful. Always squeeze the pliers slowly until the beads can be inserted or removed. If you squeeze to much you will warp your ring.
