In our drop-down menus for adding to cart, we show the gauge of the item you are ordering, then the length/diameter, then the ball size if it has any:

Jewelry is measured through a gauge system (conversion chart below). The higher the gauge number the smaller the wire is. For reference, a standard "earring" is usually 20 gauge. Jewelry gauges can vary between manufacturers. There is no universal regulation on companies to make a standard size in body jewelry. This is because some jewelry is made outside of the USA and measured in millimeters. And in the USA jewelry is measured in inches.

Rings

Rings are an essential item that can be worn in many piercings. They come in various styles:
  • Captive bead rings - These use tension to hold a bead in place.
  • Clickers - These use a hinge to open and close the ring.
  • Segment rings - These have a "segment" that comes completely out of the jewelry similar to removing a bead. But it looks like a completely seamless piece of jewelry.
  • Seamless rings - These rings require bending to open & close.
How to measure rings
  • Gauge - This is the thickness of the ring itself.
  • Diameter/Length - Measure directly across the inside center of the ring.

Straight Barbells

Straight barbells are commonly worn in various ear projects, nipples, and tongue piercings.
How to measure straight barbells
  • Gauge - This is the thickness of the post/bar itself.
  • Length - Measure directly across the post between the ends.

Double Flare Plugs / Eyelets / Gauges

Commonly worn in earlobes, but can be worn in other stretched piercings.
How to measure double flare plugs
  • Gauge - Measure the size of the plug across the middle.
  • Wearable area - Measure straight across the side of the plug between where the flares start.
  • Flare size / rise - Measure the distance from the side of the plug to where the flare ends.

Single Flare Plugs / Eyelets / Gauges

Commonly worn in earlobes, but can be worn in other stretched piercings.
How to measure single flare plugs
  • Gauge - Measure the size of the plug across the middle.
  • Wearable area - Measure straight across the side of the plug between where one flare starts and where the o-ring starts.
  • Flare size / rise - Measure the distance from the side of the plug to where the flare ends. (see image of double flare plugs)

No Flare Plugs / Eyelets / Gauges

Commonly worn in earlobes, but can be worn in other stretched piercings.
How to measure no flare plugs
  • Gauge - Measure the size of the plug across the middle.
  • Wearable area - Measure straight across the side of the plug between the o-rings.

Teardrop Shaped Plugs

Worn in earlobes
How to measure teardrop shaped jewelry
  • Gauge - Add the height + width and then divide by 2. Then use the conversion chart to get the closest gauge.
  • Wearable area - Measure directly across the plug between where the flares begin.
  • Flare size / rise - Measure from between the flares to the edge of where the flares end.

Curved Barbells

Curved barbells are commonly worn in various ear projects & eyebrows.
How to measure curved barbells
  • Gauge - This is the thickness of the post/bar itself.
  • Length - Measure directly across the post between the ends.

Circular Barbells

Circular barbells are commonly worn in various ear projects, septums, nipples, and lips.

The size is nice, I like them big, but the design is very murky and cheap looking IRL. Like, the little circles are not distinct, rather blurring together instead. I'll still wear it, but will not be buying from Tawapa again.

i enjoy large, chunky jewelry, i don't do 'tiny' or 'dainty' and i don't like things that hug my septum too tightly, so for me the 3/8" size was perfect. i love how large and in charge it is! the clasp is a little tricky, it's fairly short compared to what i usually like but now that i'm used to it, it's all good.

This septum clicker is the perfect size it doesn't hang so low it gets in the way when you drink etc. someone in the reviews said it was a statement piece definitely not to me it could just be the fact I got 5/16" but it's perfect and the black coating is nice. It's also very comfortable to wear. 10/10z

I tought it would be way more massive but honestly the dimensions are perfect. It is still a statement piece but it is not ridiculously huge on my nose as I tought it would be watching photos of other customers wearing it around the internet. Plus, I do not know if it was just my case or what, but the inner diameter is smaller than 5/16" and I'm super happy about it, since it sits PERFECTLY on my septum. The only negative note is that being plated copper it is definitely way too expensive (but I still loved the design so I had to have it -> please Tawapa stop using copper), and I'm afraid it will leave green marks on my nose/face, we will see. Overall I'm happy with it. (Oh, and I've originally ordered a 14g but then I changed it with a 18g when BAF realized that it was not in stock, but it still fits nice, so no problem for me about it. And I have to say that the customer service was perfect, so thumbs up to them!)

Quite massive compared to what I normally wear; I use o-rings to minimize the movement. Other than that, I love it! Very comfortable and gorgeous piece.
