All measurements are approximate:

8g have 3/8" balls
6g have 7/16" balls
4g have 1/2" balls
2g have 9/16" balls
0g and 00g have 5/8" balls
There is a slight gap between the ball and the ring, usually less than 1mm, so that the ball has room to unscrew.
